The 1970's began with the continuance of the hippie & flower child and the "peace" movement.. Following the end of the Vietnam War, styles settled into a comfortable way of life. Guys wore elephant bell bottom jeans, corderoy Levi's, velour Land Lubbers, painters pants with striped surfer T's by Hang Ten or floral western shirts. Gals dressed in high waisted embellished jeans with bat wing cotton tops or wrap-around skirts with tank, tube or halter tops. Then something "funky" happened and polyester was the rage! Nylon or Double knit, patterns, prints & colors were WILD to say the least. Butterfly collars off set the nylon "picture shirt" made popular by "NIKNIK" and "Huk a Poo". Men's Leisure Suits were the in thing. The pants were worn snug and long, coordinated with the highest of platform shoes. A scarfy, off the shoulder dress and "Farah Fawcett" hairstyle is what the gals wore to attract that special guy sporting "Angels Flight" disco flared slacks in hopes they would win the "Hustle" contest at nearest Disco!
